"He looks lonely."
Wu Fei raised a dark eyebrow and looked up at his partner of three years, on and off the job, with mild disbelief. The man was spotting him as he lifted weights, a comfortable, warm presence at his head as he had pushed heavier and heavier weights upwards. He could see those dark, blue eyes, looking elsewhere across the Preventer gym.
"Lonely?" Wu Fei frowned as he settled his barbells into the holder and considered the possibility.
Heero Yuy shifted weight, a flexing of muscled legs coming from white shorts. A wash board waist, as solid as rock, took a deep breath and then let it go.
"We should... invite him over," Heero continued, some emotion wringing the incautious words from him.
Wu Fei considered being jealous, contemplated the possibility of a lover grown bored, dissatisfied, or having found a stronger interest. Perfect arrogance refused any thing of the sort.
"He lives with Hilde and her man, when he isn't on Preventer missions," Wu Fei said, irritated and not certain why he had to remind Heero of that fact. "He is a healthy, extroverted, individual."
"Toby!" Duo called across the gym, laughing at an over weight man who was trundling to a treadmill. The man rolled eyes at him. "Okay, okay!" Duo laughed, "I won't make fun, but only taking a run before a physical doesn't do a bit of good, you know? What say you and I knock back a few, after, with some of the guys?"
The man agreed and Duo went back to flexing his upper arms in an exercise machine, grin firmly in place.
"Lonely?" Wu Fei said skeptically.
Heero nodded, not explaining his reasoning.
Wu Fei looked down his chest at Duo, and watched the man strain against the machine. The smile was banked, but still there, the too big eyes, seeing nothing but inner thoughts. Wu Fei found himself appreciating the man's roll of shoulders, the slim waist, and the rounded hips that pressed against the padding of his seat. There had been definite interest years ago, still, if he was honest with himself, but Heero had meshed with him perfectly, as comfortable as two old souls who had known each other in previous lives. There had never been a time when he hadn't wanted Heero by his side.
"He's handsome," Wu Fei tried, understanding, within himself, a need to needle Heero for a bit of emotional revenge.
Wu Fei found Heero leaning over the bar and looking closely at him, then, with eyes that were keen as lasers. "It's more than about dick. I'm not shallow."
Wu Fei blinked at the crudeness and then made an exasperated sound before demanding, "Speak plainly, then, and I won't insult you further."
"He watches us," Heero told him. "He looks... envious."
Wu Fei shot a quick look down his chest, once more, and saw Duo flicking eyes away from them. He looked up at Heero. "You are reading a great deal into a case of ogling you. If you would stop wearing that skin tight, half tank top..." Heero's abs flexed as he chuckled.
Heero grew more serious again and said, "You care about him, too."
Wu Fei frowned, weighing the implications of that sentence. "If you're insinuating that I am looking elsewhere?"
"You would tell me, if you were. You are not dishonorable," Heero replied firmly, "I'm not saying that you're thinking of leaving me for Duo. I'm..."
Wu Fei regarded Heero, perplexed. "What?" he prodded.
Heero said in embarrassment. "We've never acted like a married couple. We've been... partners...friends...committed, loving... We've never felt that restricting ourselves to conventions was necessary."
"Obviously," Wu Fei agreed. "We are bound by our souls. We are so much more than conventional ties can encompass. To try to define ourselves by them, would insult what we are to each other.
"Since we have both decided that we are not in a conventional relationship," Heero summed up as if he were reading a thesis at a college, "and that we both are in agreement that things that define a marriage, or even a legally documented commitment, to another person, does not, then imply that we-"
"You want to have sex with Duo?" Wu Fei interrupted dryly.
Heero admitted, "Yes, of course, and so do you, but that's not the core issue here."
"No, but it is the truth," Wu Fei replied, "and we can't go forward unless we both admit that base attraction for that man over there."
"May I continue now?" Heero asked irritably.
"By all means," Wu Fei snorted.
Heero gripped the barbell as if he intended to lift it himself, hands flexing on the metal, and his dark blue eyes staring at it intently. "I believe that our relationship has room for another, that when we talk about souls knowing each other from past lives, we can agree on adding Duo to that feeling. He's always been there, inside of us, in spirit. Why not have him there physically as well?"
"A threesome?" Wu Fei contemplated it, contemplated rolling Duo Maxwell beneath him and enjoying every inch of that body while Heero joined in, hands caressing them, teasing them, as they found their completion together. When the towel hit his growing need, he started and flinched.
"You might want to hide that," Heero commented with a knowing smirk.
"He won't agree to it," Wu Fei said firmly as he adjusted the towel and sat up. "We may be unconventional, but that man over there still wears a cross and attends church, once in awhile."
Heero regarded Duo. The man had stopped his exercises and was taking a breather, wiping his hands on a towel. "I think... I think he's come to terms with many things where it concerns his beliefs and what he is, now, what he was, in the past."
"He does have a keen sense of balance," Wu Fei agreed appreciatively.
"Which is why I think that he will agree to join us," Heero argued. "I think, together, we can find a unique kind of balance that will make all of our lives... perfection."
"Perfection is a lofty goal, Lover," Wu Fei chuckled.
Heero smiled at him. "I'm willing to attempt to attain it. Are you?"
Wu Fei regarded Heero and then turned his attention to Duo. He caught the man looking their way again and could almost see the guilty blush as the man quickly looked away again. "I've always loved a challenge. Shall we both go over there?"
Heero grabbed Wu Fei's hand and pulled him to his feet. "Yes. It's time to end his loneliness."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Maxwell?" Wu Fei rounded a corner of the Preventer locker room.
Duo started and then began walking away, shirt half buttoned, as he said nervously, "Hey, Fei. Can't talk, late for work."
Heero rounded the other end of the lockers and Duo was forced to stop. Trapped, he looked down and finished buttoning his shirt as his two fellow agents closed in on him. His hands weren't steady.
Wu Fei and Heero exchanged looks as they bracketed the nervous man, urging each other to say something. Heero finally swallowed hard and started to say, "Duo, we need to talk-"
"I'm sorry!" Duo exploded, but then remembered that they were in a public place and lowered his voice to a hissing whisper. "I know I was looking, but I didn't mean anything by it, I swear!"
Wu Fei frowned and put a hand on Duo's arm. Duo flinched under his touch, expecting some sort of retribution. Duo's eyes were firmly down, hands almost knotted in his tie, now, as he struggled to tie it.
"Maxwell... Duo," Wu Fei said gently. "It's all right. We didn't mind, truly."
Duo dared a glance at him and then his eyes were down again. He struggled with an explanation, his cheeks pink with embarrassment. "You two just look great together. I guess I'm envious, you know?"
Heero and Wu Fei exchanged looks again and then Heero leaned in close and said, "We've been noticing you as well."
Duo's eyes shot to him, startled, but then they were down once again. Heero's hand reached out and stopped him from mangling his tie.
"Duo, calm down," Heero urged.
Duo looked down at the hand touching his in amazement. "I-I... what?" He couldn't make a coherent sentence.
Wu Fei snorted laughter and leaned in closely as well. "Duo, Heero and I have discussed a lack in our relationship."
Duo's eyes came up in alarm. "Don't tell me that! You guys are perfect together. Everyone wants to be you. I... I want to be you."
Wu Fei smiled and slipped an arm around Duo's waist. "That's what we discussed." He blushed almost as pink as Duo, finding it hard to say his next words, but determined to let Duo know how they felt. "Heero and I believe that our lack, is you. We want you. We both feel it, strongly."
Duo's eyes were wide as he looked from one to the other of them. "Did I hit my head out there in the gym? This can't be..."
"You are completely lucid," Wu Fei assured him. "After work, we'd like to talk."
"Come to our place," Heero urged.
Duo was blinking and shaking his head. "That's messed up, guys!I mean... a threesome?"
"We are unconventional people, Duo, with unconventional lives," Wu Fei explained with a dignity that made what they were proposing seem honorable. "Because of that, we have needs that are also unconventional."
"Needs?" Duo echoed, licking lips nervously.
"Emotional needs, not just the physical," Heero assured him quickly.
Wu Fei glared at Heero in mock disgust, "Thought there is that. We will be honest with you. You are a very handsome man, Duo Maxwell."
Duo wiped a hand over his face as if testing the reality of the moment and then looked at them both. "I'll come over... to talk."
Several agents came to their side of the locker room and paused uncertainly. "We interrupting you girls?" One of them snickered.
"Fuck you, Peters!" Heero growled without turning around.
"Anytime, Yuy," Peters shot back and his companions laughed.
"After work, Duo, please come to our home?" Wu Fei urged and Duo nodded.

Duo cleared his throat nervously. Sitting on the edge of his chair at Heero and Wu Fei's apartment, a beer forgotten in his hand, and the two men on the couch facing him, he hardly knew what to say next.
"Are you... experienced... in any way...?" Heero asked tentatively.
"Experienced?" Duo echoed blankly.
Wu Fei glanced at Heero and then tried himself, "Experienced... in... this sort of... relationship?"
"Threesomes?" Duo croaked and blushed. His hand tightened on the beer can and his fingers made a dent.
Wu Fei blushed as well and said quickly, "No, that's not the question, of course. Who would be? I meant... with... men... in general...?"
Duo snorted, all bravado suddenly, "Chang! How old am I? Come on! Of course I've... been there..."
"Been there?" Heero frowned, expression betraying some jealousy. "With who?"
Duo looked at a loss and then he tried, "Ah, well....You know how you hook up... and don't really know who with? Parties... nightclubs... that sort of thing?"
"You should be tested, then," Heero replied firmly. "We shouldn't go any further-"
"We were going to go THERE, tonight?" Duo croaked in shock.
It was Heero's turn to blush. He glanced at Wu Fei for confirmation and then nodded. "We were hoping."
"The air doesn't get old in your oxygen tanks, does it? Jeez! " Duo said with a shake of his head. "I'm not THAT easy, guys."
Wu Fei was confused. "You just said that you were, Maxwell."
Duo blushed hotter.
Wu Fei growled, "Duo, don't let embarrassment stop what we're trying to create here."
"And what is that?" Duo wanted to know, very serious. "If this is just some kinky dream of yours...?"
Wu Fei was incensed. "Of course not! This isn't just about sex."
"Then why were you expecting to 'get some' tonight?" Duo demanded.
"Duo, if you're a virgin, just say so," Heero urged. "We're not going to think less of you because of it."
Duo swallowed hard and looked down at the beer now gripped hard in both his hands. "I've lived a hard life," he said. "It was a life where sex wasn't some shiny, good thing that you did when you were in love. It was something that you gave when you needed something... warmth, food, protection, belonging in a gang... not that I ever did, just, it was 'giving up' something... always, from what I saw of it. I always thought I'd only 'give it up' to somebody I actually cared about. I wasn't going to just do it because of wanting something."
"We won't do anything until you're ready," Wu Fei promised but then he was smiling warmly. "We want to be with you, because we both love you, Duo, not because we want something from you."
"If you never want that kind of relationship," Heero added, in a very serious tone, "We will still remain your closest friends and not pressure you to change your mind."
Wu Fei stared at Heero, mouth open a little, but then he agreed, reluctantly, "Yes, if you never want an intimate relationship, we will respect that decision, though I will not promise to not try to persuade you otherwise."
Duo was wide eyed at that and then he grinned, "Hey, I am Human. Of course I want to be with you guys. I just want to make sure..."
"That we aren't using you?" Wu Fei finished.
"Yeah, that," Duo replied and took a long swallow of beer.
"You could be using us," Heero said thoughtfully.
Duo grinned. "Could be. Maybe I'm just now finding my... libido?"
"If you haven't had one by now, I would be worried," Wu Fei replied dryly.
Duo blushed. "Well, yeah, it's been there, just... it has high standards."
"Do we meet those standards?" Heero asked hopefully.
"I would say that only you two have meet... and passed... my standards," Duo replied and then firmly put his beer aside on the coffee table. He stood.
"Are you leaving?" Wu Fei asked worriedly.
"Have we said something wrong?" Heero wanted to know.
"You said everything right," Duo replied and held out both his strong hands. They both reached to take them and Duo pulled them easily to their feet. "There's a bedroom in this place?"
"Are you sure?" Heero asked anxiously.
"Since you asked, I'm even more sure," Duo replied, looked around them, and then spotted the bedroom door. "Let's go, gentleman."
Wu Fei dragged his feet. "I'm not sure that this is the right thing to do. Perhaps it would be better to go slower?"
Duo shook his head and his braid swung as he continued to pull them into the bedroom. "You've been staring at my ass in the gym for how long? If I mean something to both of you, this is part of it. If we can't do this part, then all of the getting to know each other parties in the world won't make it work."
"Very wise," Wu Fei said with a smirk.
They let Duo take the lead, then, stripping off clothes with awkward embarrassment and then exploring each other with calloused fingers before they even decided to use the bed. When Heero kneeled down to take Duo into his mouth, Duo could only hold on to his chocolate hair and close his eyes, while Wu Fei supported him from behind, kissing the curve of Duo's neck.
"Stuff," Duo said at last, finally looking down and catching his breath as he pulled out of Heero's mouth with a soft plop.
Heero smiled softly up at him, caressing Duo's thighs. "Stuff?" he echoed, and then realizing as he stood and headed for a side table."Stuff."
Supplies hit the soft bed and Duo stared at them in a daze. He shook himself with an effort and then said hoarsely, "I want to take you, both of you. That... is that okay?"
It was and they let him know with coaxing caresses that soon had them all sprawled on the bed and Duo learning the fine art of preparing them.
"This is sooo, sooo hot!" Was Duo's only words as he worked them both with his fingers and they moaned their agreement.
"Legs up, flyboy," Duo growled as he hooked arms under Heero's knees and bent him double.
"Slow," Heero warned and Duo leashed his passion enough to push in with care. The groan that he uttered, when he finally seated himself fully in Heero, was primal.
"Take him," Wu Fei urged as he caressed them both.
"Together," Heero urged and reached out to position Wu Fei so that he could take the man in his mouth. He sucked and worked Wu Fei strongly while Duo found his rhythm and pumped into Heero with loud slaps of flesh meeting flesh.
Wu Fei pumped Heero with his fist, gripping harshly, and they came together with a chorus of shouts and swearing, Heero swallowing Wu Fei down and drinking every hot drop.
Coming apart, they all lay flat on their backs, staring up at the ceiling and panting hard.
"Duo?" Heero finally asked breathlessly.
Duo chuckled. "The best. I don't even need to try anyone else. I just know.... that was the best their is. We gotta keep doing this... being together. I'm moving in, okay?"
"That was the plan," Wu Fei replied.
"Forever," Heero agreed.
"I wouldn't want it any other way," Duo assured them and then rolled over to crawl onto them both. He pulled them in close for a deep kiss and then gave all of his attention to Wu Fei.
"Already?" Wu Fei asked in amusement.
Duo nodded as he positioned himself. "We have years to make up for, guys, and I intend to make up a lot tonight."
