"Exemplary in every way," Une said as she paced and read the report. She smiled as she added,"Sending the information, from their commander's own office, was reckless, but also well within operating parameters."

"He had a great satellite link up and we took advantage," Duo replied.

"No injuries, expert and professional execution," Une continued. "You've more than proven that you can work well together."

Duo cleared his throat nervously. "You aren't going to make a habit of that, are you?"

Une waved him off. "Of course not, but, if you are needed to work together again, I won't have any fears that you will let your personal feelings interfere."

"Of course not," Heero agreed.

"You are dismissed, then agents," Une told them, and her glasses flashed as bright as her smile as she added, "Good job."

As Heero and Duo walked together down the hallway, towards their quarters, Duo looked aside at Heero and said quietly, "I'm glad that you decided not to tell her that I rushed an entire array of automated guns to save you."

Heero's cheeks pinked. "It seemed only fair, since you didn't tell her that I threw myself into a double airlock, to join you, when It was clear that it was a booby trap, set to gas us at any moment."

Duo rubbed at the back of his neck and chuckled. "Good thing I jumped the door controls."

"Good thing I knew where the weapons array control was located," Heero said.

"Good shooting, by the way," Duo told him seriously.

"Thank you," Heero replied, and then thoughtfully, "If we can't stop from letting it become personal, though, shouldn't we tell Une that?"

"We did finish the mission," Duo replied, "and neither of us would have made it through alive alone. I think skill balances out emotional involvement."

Heero nodded, agreeing, but then he asked carefully, "I need to get back to my quarters and clean up. Join me?"

Duo didn't care who saw them as he leaned and kissed Heero's lips. He broke the kiss just as quickly, and then said, "I'll join you when the calendar says that it's time. Maybe that makes me anal, or just damned crazy, but... It's become an important day, one I've waited for years to get to. Do you understand? Will you wait?"

"Forever, if I have to," Heero replied with intensity.

Duo chuckled relieved. "Not forever, just two weeks."

"It will be like our wedding day," Heero said with feeling.

Duo blinked and then snickered. "Yeah, I guess so, though I'm not wearing a dress, or anything."

"Or a tux," Heero said, laughing as well. He grew serious, again, and said, "I want that kind of relationship, though, the kind where we are together until death parts us."

"I'm looking for forever, actually," Duo teased, "but, if you want to split after death, I guess I can't stop you-"

Heero stopped any further words with another kiss that had them both shivering with need and emotion.

"Forever, if you want me that long," Heero told him.

"Always have," Duo told him, and then they were reluctantly parting.

When Duo reached his rooms, he took out his marker, even before he put down his duffel, and crossed off the days that he had been away on his calendar. So close, he thought, and stared at that circled date for a long while.

Heero swallowed hard and then opened the door to Duo's room. He blinked, trying to adjust to the low light, and then looked about in awe at the flickering candles on every surface. Duo sat in the middle of his bed, wrapped in nothing but his hair, eyes wide and nervous.

"Heero," Duo said, in a voice a little too high. He cleared his throat and then tried again. "I've got champagne chilling in the fridge and strawberries and cheese over there." He nodded to a small table with a beautiful arrangement of fruit and cheese arranged around a small bouquet of red roses. I'm...," He cleared his throat again. "I'm glad you came."

Heero seemed at a loss and then he replied carefully, "This is... nice."

"It's a special day," Duo told him. "Everything should be special."

"It just doesn't seem like you, " Heero replied. "I..." he stopped, made an effort to get himself together, and then approached the bed. Duo looked up at him with suspicious, purple eyes.

"You don't like it?" Duo wondered. "Too many candles?"

"No, no, it's... fine," Heero shoved hands into his pockets and looked around again.

"Heero... Today is the day," Duo said in hurt confusion. "We've been waiting for years for this. What's wrong? You don't look like you want to be here."

Heero took a deep breath, frowning. "Is that perfume?"

"Incense," Duo replied in a small voice and then, "Are you getting cold feet? Heero, tell me what's going on with you."

Heero shook his head quickly and then motioned to the room. "Duo, what is all this?"

Duo scowled and reached for his shirt. "Fuck you, Yuy! If you don't get this, then maybe I was wrong about you all along!"

Heero reached out and caught Duo's wrist. He asked quietly, "Duo, why do you think that I need anything but you?"

Duo's mouth hung open. The candle light played over his handsome face, his tattooed body, and the mass of his loose hair. "The women agents," he replied finally. "They said that I should make this... romantic and memorable. That you'd like that."

Heero smiled, relieved. "Not really."

"Thank, god!" Duo exclaimed, looking relieved as well.

Heero cocked his head at him and asked, "Then, this isn't what you want?"

Duo shook his head, "Hell, no!"

Heero dug car keys out of his pocket and dangled them. "Can you guess what I do want?"

Duo shouted in delight and grabbed for his jeans. "I'm there! Blow out the damned candles before they burn the place down, and let's get the hell out of here!"

It was as if they were reliving their youth as they both jumped into Heero's sports car and sped away. Duo turned up the music full blast, and let the wind of an open window whip through his hair, as Heero drove them to the outskirts of town. As the sun dipped on the horizon, Heero pulled into a small lot by a set of railroad tracks.

Heero turned to Duo with a smirk. "Ever do this before?"

Duo grinned as he whipped off his shirt. "No, so please fly me friendly, pilot."

Heero tapped a tube of lube against the steering wheel, his smirk growing wider. "Both of us are newbies, so we'll keep the ceiling low and stay light on the controls.Flip you for docking clearance?"

Duo popped open his jeans, blushing, "I think I'll be co pilot this time. You better go easy on entry."

"Roger that, will do," Heero replied as he tossed off his shirt. Looking serious now, he understood Duo's trust in him.

They stared at each other, half dressed and uncertain where to begin. Duo laughed suddenly and grabbed a hold of Heero. They flipped over into the backseat, in a bundle of flailing limbs, as the music continued to blare out a savage rhythm. Then hands pulled off the rest of their clothing and they lay on the seat, grinning, almost nose to nose.

Duo planted a leg up on the seat, and snaked the other around Heero. "Okay," he said, as of he were about to start a dangerous mission."Go for it."

Heero shook his head. "Nobody's coming after us, this time, Duo, unless there's a lonely police officer, on this barren road, looking for trouble. We have time, and, if I remember right, it's your turn."

Heero kissed Duo's belly button, making Duo's skin twitch and nervous laughter erupt from his lip. Heero kissed lower, and then even lower. When his mouth closed around Duo, he hummed in appreciation while Duo swore and dug his fingers into Heero's hair.

Only a few moments later and Duo's face was red with embarrassment. "Uh, well, I guess I couldn't wait any more..."

"We have time," Heero repeated as he licked his lips and slid up to lay nose to nose with Duo again. "That was just the start."

Duo laughed, but he was still nervous. "Maybe it was only a few seconds, Heero, but it was a fantastic few seconds!"

Heero's lips captured Duo's and Duo tasted himself on Heero's tongue as the kiss deepened. They grew wild after that, wanting each other desperately, both of them feeling as if someone might yet stop them and snatch heaven away before they could reach it. Bodies came together gently, but hands and lips were forceful and needy as they both lost their virginity in a fiery bout of passion.

Afterward, they lay together, music off, and the stars overhead visible through an open window. Only the sound of crickets and their calming breathing broke the silence.

Heero lightly kissed Duo's neck and collar bone, as Duo held him close, and asked, "All right?"

"Perfect," Duo breathed, happy and sated.

Heero smirked, proud of himself. "Really?"

Duo eyed him, "Well, I'm trying to ignore all the uncomfortable little details, like my how my skin is stuck to the leather seat with-"

Heero moved up and kissed the next words away.

"and how my ass feels like-," Duo tried again with a chuckle, but Heero stopped those words with kisses as well.

Duo quieted and then gave Heero a long, serious look. "Was it... good for you?"

"It was perfect," Heero replied, just a serious. "It was everything that I hoped for, all of these years. It was worth waiting for."

Duo blushed hotly and said, "Same back at you." His blush went even deeper as he asked, uncertainly,"So... Is it something that you'd want... you know... for the rest of your life?"

"Every day, twice a day," Heero replied strongly, cupping Duo's cheek with his strong hand, "Maybe three or four times a day, for the rest of our lives."

Duo's eyes showed his emotions, but his lips quirked and he replied ruefully, "I don't think my ass would survive that, but-"

Heero's hand tightened on Duo's cheek and drew it away from his face. He gave it a slight wiggle. "You know what I meant."

Duo pulled his face away and he frowned, "Maybe I don't? Maybe I actually need you to say it?""

"Forever, Duo, that's how long I want you with me," Heero replied as he pulled Duo against him tightly.

There was a tap on the window and a light shown down into their faces. They reached for weapons they didn't have as they both scrambled to untangle and sit up.

"We weren't doing anything!" Duo exclaimed. "We ran out of gas!"

"We weren't breaking any laws!" Heero said at the same time. "You don't have any right-"

The police officer looked uncomfortable as he broke in and said, "This is private property. I'm going to have to ask you to move along."

They both blushed and stammered replies that didn't make much sense.

The officer held up a hand, looking even more uncomfortable as he said, "I was young once, too. Just... move along, so that I won't have to report this."

"Yes, sir," Heero managed.

As the officer moved away, they quickly pulled on their clothes and climbed back into the front seat.

Duo laughed, suddenly, as Heero began pulling back onto the main road. "Just like old times."

Heero laughed as well and replied, "This time, though, we won't be separated, ever. Let's go back to your place. Someone told me there was wine and food there."

"Strawberries, cheese, and champagne," Duo corrected. "I've been instructed to eat them off of you by a couple of Preventer ladies."

Heero frowned. "Is that supposed to be good?"

"Who knows," Duo replied, but the bed is a lot better for bouncing when two guys just want to act like a couple of animals."

Heero smirked. "On second thought, let's skip the food."
